Hosting24 Review

Hosting24 was first established in 2008 and also it is a part of the Hostinger Network. Currently, they are providing service for about 29 million users in 178 countries.
When compared to other web hosts, Hosting24 offers a chock full of hyperbolic language with 99% uptime guarantees and ‘automatic backups’ likewise.
So to begin with the review process, we set up a WordPress website with their least expensive shared hosting plan in June 2015. And started to monitor uptime and speed, customer support, etc. We also performed background checks to come up with an honest review.
Now, let’s look at the review.

Advantages of Hosting24

The main advantage is their cooperative customer support. And there are some other advantages too. Let’s have a look.

1. Good Customer Support

Live chat is the main method when talking about Customer Support in Hosting24. Via that, we were able to connect to a support agent immediately.
The agent’s responses were informative, detailed, and clear. But there was a slight delay between answering questions. And it was quite noticeable. And even the background check gave the same mixed reviews.
Altogether the reviews are not that bad.

2. Enhanced Security with automated backups

Hosting24 follows a reasonably good customer-centric approach via paying special attention to the security of your site. Most of their hosting plans are powered with Cloudflare DDOS Protection and ClamAV antivirus scanner.
Another benefit is Hosting24 perform weekly backups. Daily backups are the ideal way to keep your website protected. But many other sites charge you extra for backups. So considering that, this is not a bad deal.
Furthermore, they offer SpamAssassin Protection for email too.

3. U.S. and European Server Locations

If you are signing up with Hosting24 for a new shared or VPS hosting account, they let you select between hosting your site on North America (Asheville, North Carolina) or European (United Kingdom) locations.

4. Number of Promotional Sales

If you are signing up at the right time. You may get a great deal if you are lucky.
While we are writing this, they were running a 50% lifetime discount flash sale.
You can see more details about their sales by going to their Facebook Page.

5. Free Website Transfer(s)

Hosting24 will migrate an existing website for free as similar to the many hosting companies we have reviewed.

6. Above Average Uptime over prior 24 months

When you visit their website, you will see how they claim about 99.9%+ uptime.
During the last two years, Hosting24 was able to deliver 99.97% uptime.
According to our background checks, many clients complain about being unable to access their website with getting a ‘Service Temporarily Unavailable’ message.

  • “The uptime has been horrible. My website gets offline almost daily. According to Pingdom, my website has been offline for over 50+ times.”
  • “Uptime was the worst point: my websites have been down so many times because of so-called “server updates” and Hosting24 never noticed it themselves.”
  • “The most regular error that I get is: Service Temporarily Unavailable“
  • “I worked with Hosting24 but didn’t like their stability and support“
  • “Now they are providing good service, just uptime is not 100%“

Average Uptimes during last year:

  • January 2020 average uptime: 99.97%
  • December 2019 average uptime: 99.99%
  • November 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • October 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • September 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • August 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • July 2019 average uptime: 99.95%
  • June 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • May 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • April 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • March 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 99.98%

7. Above Average Speed

During the past year, their page loading speed was 668ms. That is a reasonably good speed, but not that good.
According to studies, 74% of people will leave your site if the page loading speed is more than 5 seconds. So, the speed has a direct impact on your conversion rates.
And the speed of your hosting is one of the main factors that contribute to the speed of your site.

Average load times during last year:

Disadvantages of Hosting24

You must know these before signing up with Hosting24.

1. Limited, Marginally Beneficial Backups

Even though Hosting24 uses its backup feature as a star on their website, it is not that much good.
There are some reasons.

  • They only do weekly backups. The ideal way is to perform daily backups. That way you will always have a copy to restore.
  • They will delete previous ones, during weekly backups
This is definitely not good. Relying on a single backup may be a problem in case something happens.
  • If your account is larger than 2 GB, they won’t backup
If you are running a highly visual site like an eCommerce one, 2GB won’t be that big. I think the best thing will be to backup your site on your own.

Do we recommend Hosting24?

No, we don’t.
The main things to consider when signing up with any web host is uptime and page loading time. In Hosting24 their uptime was just above the average. And the page loading time is just the same; just better than the industry standard. Therefore the overall performance is not satisfactory.

Benefits  of using Web Hosting Hub

Solid-State Hard Drives (SSDs)

Web Hosting Hub takes advantage of new solid-state hard disks. According to PCMag’s experts, these SSDs can produce results that are up to 20 times faster than standard (mechanical) hard drives used by some competitors.

_ They have had little success in the process. However, they are faster than the average web hosts.

Money-Back Guarantee

The Web Hosting Hub has a 90 days money-back guarantee. Most web hosts offer 30 days or 60 days money-back guarantee. This means that if you intend to give them a chance, you have a risk-free opportunity to test their service for three months.

_ But there are some non-repayable fees in any circumstances, according to Web Hosting Hub’s terms of service. Such as fee paid by the subscriber for SSL certificates, domain names

_Web Hosting Hub lacks month to month payments options.

_ In Web Hosting Hub, apart from the “Free Domain Name ” promotion, they will cost $11.99 fee for each year for the domain and in addition $5.00 fee as an administrative fee. That means they will reduce your total refund by $16.99 which is worth compared to most competitors.

However, you can transfer them to an alternate hosting company after terminating your subscription with the Web Hosting Center, you retain full ownership f your domain name(s).

 Eco friendly

They believe, it is important to be eco-friendly as the nation’s fastest-growing web hosting provider. Any customer can understand their commitment to eco-friendly policies.

Since 2010, they have focused on getting better at the carbon footprint of their centers. At the same time, they have put as much emphasis on stopping the use of paper products as possible, reducing waste, and increasing the recycling of their offices.

Using advanced outdoor air cooling technology, the company opened it’s first (so far ) green data center in Los Angeles a city n Califonia. One of their core beliefs is that reducing is better than offsetting, especially when it comes to energy consumption. Using advanced outdoor air cooling technology, they reduce their cooling costs by almost 70% and reduce their carbon production by more than 2,000 per year.

Traditional Data Center Computer Room Air Conditional (CRAC) works non stop, cooling, and recycling the hot air generated by the server. It’s not an efficient way to run your server rooms these days. Overtime burns more energy to help a room that is already hot. An outdoor air cooler releases warm air from the building to bring in cool air and is used through the CRAC unit only when needed due to high temperature or humidity.

_ If you are eco friendly or you’re looking for an eco-friendly site, or are concerned about reducing your carbon footprint it is best to use Web Hosting Hub. But in terms of energy efficiency, they still produce new waves.

WordPress Web Hosting

Web Hosting Hub presents WordPress events such as word camps.  For beginners, professional WordPress developers, and counselors. They currently manage thousands of WordPress based sites and blogs.  They have expertly trained support technicians. Transferring a WordPress blog is simple and quick with Web Hosting Hub.

Disadvantages of using Web Hosting Hub

The Web Hosting Hub provides a good list of positives. The support is good enough. Unfortunately, there are some potential downsides too.

01. Provide “shared ” hosting only

If you have no plans to expand to advanced hosting plans,  Web Hosting Hub ‘s excellent customer service and strong shared hosting plans look attractive. It offers several benefits, such as their faster registration process. But larger web sites and more intelligent users like to use specialized hosting options for larger websites that require more resources to operate. f you understand this part you may be forced to start the host review process again, looking for other premium options elsewhere. Many of the editors’  options are Dreamhost, HostGator.

02.Hosting price tricks

In web Hosting Hub low monthly fee is $5.99, but to receive it you have to register for a full three years.

They lack month to month payment options. The lowest is twelve months and the price goes up to $7.99 per month (paid in advance).

In the end, it’s not a good deal. unfortunately, the pricing strategy is very widespread in the hosting industry as most are the same. Customers need to stay alert.

03.Additional payments for backups security.

Web Hosting Hub even offers daily backups and automate the system but it’ll value an extra dollar per month. The price is not the case. But most other web hosts offer security features for free. McAfee virus and Anti_spam Protection costs are starting from $1.39 per year and SSL certificates cost $99 per year.

04. Web Hosting Hub pricing, hosting and other facts

Web Hosting Hub only offers shared hosting. There are some plans. Such as spark plan, nitro plan, and dynamo plan.

Spark Plan

_includes all of the necessary tools and features.

_ costs $5.99 fee monthly.

_ supports two websites, 10MySQL databases, and 25 subdomains.

Nitro plan

_costs $7.99 fee monthly

_suppots unlimited websites, sub-domains, and MySQL databases.

Dynamo plan

_costs $9.99 fee monthly.

_ supports unlimited websites, sub-domains, and unlimited MySQL databases.

These hosting plans offer

_ free domain name,  SSDs, and zero-downtime website transfer

_ unlimited disk space,  bandwidth, and email

_ Cpanel

_ free private SSL certificate

_ 90-day money-back guarantee (3 months)

_ easy signup process.

Payments are done by credit card. There is a limit of files for their customers. If accounts exceed 10GB or 75,000 files are denied from the backup system you’ll have to pay about $50 fee to restore. Their account activation is quick.

Do we recommend Web Hosting Hub?

In conclusion, their uptime, and customer support is okay. But the prices aren’t as good as advertised. If you live outside the U.S. your account verification can be delayed by 24 hours. Generally, their performance is fairly normal. So we cannot recommend Web Hosting Hub.

Despite that, you can work with InMotion hosting (another brand of them) or you should choose another Web Hosting brand.

Cloudway’s Review

Cloudways is a popular cloud-based web hosting platform. The most interesting thing about cloudways is that it lets you pay only for what you used. They even let you try out their service for free. Most of the hosting services have long contract periods, but that is not the same case with Cloudways. It also offers you five different types of platforms like Google Cloud and Amazon Web services. Exceptional Uptime

Cloudways hosting has proven that it has an exceptional Uptime. Most of the Cloud hosting service providers aren’t able to provide a 100% Uptime. But Cloudway has proven that they have given 100% uptime so far. They maintained a continuous relationship with the customer by providing customer live chat support to maintain an average of up time to 100%.

 Live Chat Support

One of the great services offered by Cloudways is live chat support. They offer expert 24x7x365 problem-solving support for their use to help them to save their time and work without a worry.  The online ticketing method helps to track complicated customer service queries. It can sometimes be done by Cloudway’s staff or users by themselves. Cloudways has provided a staff of Seniors Support Engineers to help their users. They will give you a quick and polite response to your questions. But you should have an account of Cloudways to get this service. In order to do that you have to sign up by giving some personal information. Cloudways have proven that it has a very effective support system.

Proactive Monitoring

Proactive monitoring is another special feature of cloudy. They will always keep you updated on your issues. As an example, imagine your server has a crash and they will let you know as soon as possible. If your site has a breakdown, it will be a big problem, so this will be a great relief for the user. Cloudways also provides a brief description of the problem like what caused the problem, what should be done to handle it, and how long it’ll take to solve the problem besides letting you know if there is a problem.

They also provide monitoring tools applications that are hosting on the server. There are two different levels of monitoring services. Analytics and logs are those 2 levels. In Analytics, you can view details about traffic, usage of disks, PHP, and MYSQL requests. The management level of the log gives details about errors of website login and access log.

Free trial

Another good thing about Cloudways is that it offers a free trial for three days. Three days is not that long time period but it will let you have a simple idea about the service they provide. So it’ll be helping you to decide whether you continue to use their service or not. Most of the service providers offer their services under the condition of a money-back guarantee. Using this method instead of money-back guarantee Cloudways offers their service in a good way

Fast Page Load Time

If you’re going to host a website, you must consider the page loading speed. Because it will decide the success rate of your website. Your web pages should load as fast as possible to satisfy your user. Otherwise, viewers will leave your site, because it is a waste of their time waiting for it to load. Therefore it’ll be better for you if it has a fast page load time. Cloudways have proven to have faster page load time. In the last three months, the average of their loading time of the page has reached 540 ms(0.5 sec).

Free First Time Site Transfer

If you’re going to switch your hosting providers to a site that is already built, you should move the site that is already built, you should move the site to a new service. In this instance, Cloudways gives you your first shift at no charge. It’s very cost beneficial for you and it allows you to switch with no regrets.

Free SSL Certificate Security

Cloudway’s Review

Security is an important factor to consider in order to satisfy your users or customers. Small businesses must have a secure site to win their customers’ trust. Online store security differs from a physical store. A physical store can be secure by a security guard. But that option is not applicable in online stores. If you’re lack knowledge of e-commerce security, it’ll because you a huge loss. So you must be taken relevant actions for the safeguard of your online business. In order to get a secure site, you must have an SSL certificate. By having that you’ll get to add HTTPS at the in front of your website’s URL.

Many cloud hosting providers charge you for this service. But Cloudways let you have it for free. Here you’ll have a problem with what SSL means and its purpose is. SSL is the shorten form of Secure Socket Layer. If your website has got the only HTTP at the beginning of your URL, it may not be good for your customers’ security.

Google considers HTTP sites as non-secure sites because user’s sensitive information like their credit card details can be exposed through these sites. So it must be secured through SSL in order to have a trustworthy website. If your site’s URL does not have HTTPS, the user will reluctant to get your service.

The ”White list” security feature of Cloudways stores a record of a list of IP addresses that the user needs to know for accessing the server.

Easy to use Control Panel

Cloudway’s Review

Normally, most of the hosting providers use a classical C panel but Cloudways uses a custom dashboard. Although it’ll take a little bit of time for you to be familiar with that, it will be easier for you to handle. It’s very favorable for both beginners and also for the advanced users. You can access monitoring tools analytics and logic that has mentioned to you earlier through this server admin panel. Other than that you can do domain management, upgrade your security through SSL certificate, make changers to application settings, arrange your automated backups, etc. Cloudways custom dashboard performs everything the C panel does.

Remote Collaboration on the Cloudways platform

Cloudways platform supports its clients for remote collaboration. If your team still in the process of adjusting to the remote working environment, they support you to collaborate more effectively with everyone.

Collaboration via SFTP/SSH access to applications and collaboration via the cloudways platform is the collaboration features available on the cloudways platform. If you’re getting help for developing or maintaining your applications or if you want to let a consultant get temporary access to one of your servers or if you need to provide your clients limited SFTP access to your servers and applications, cloudways grants you several solutions.

In most cases, you may need to let your customers have SFTP or SSH access to one or more than one of your applications or servers. As a rule, you have to provide independent logins to the cloudways platform for each of your collaborators. It may be to let him get access to the support area or billing or to restart services etc.

You have to follow very simple steps to have this collaboration in cloudways. First, you have to create a new team member and secondly, you have to set the privileges that you want him/her will have. After that he/she will get an email in order to activate their console access. That team member who has to get access to the relevant application or server will be able to create a set of application credentials of their own with SFTP/SSH access to it. As a result of these features, you can collaborate with your team without worry.

As well as that, cloudways offer a special collaboration tool called ”cloudways Bot”. It helps you to receive notification of current health and status of your servers and applications.

Enhanced Cloudways Staging Environment

Cloudways supports especially to e-business and development projects through this staging feature. It offers you the privileges of doing changers for the code base, new extensions, plugins, and also for the themes without doing any breakage of the live site.

In order to create a staging application, all the codebase and the database of the initial application should be cloned to the new one. Technically, this means ”puling” the code. The staging application is free from the earliest application. In addition to this, it can be modified in order to get adjusted to the test cases. The staging application let you edit codes easily, creates post or pages, add new plugins, change the theme, and other settings in the website. This means it grants you its full control. You can ”pushed” all the codebase and databases to live server after your client satisfaction of the staging application.

Not only that, with the recent improvements of cloudways, users now can choose tables that have to be synced while doing the creation of staging. Due to this, you can eliminate the table that belongs to the mission-critical criteria for your business.     It means cloudways has granted you full control over databases and the process of the sync. Hence the owner of the eCommerce store can eliminate tables like order details that usually have updates and sensitive data which should be a safeguard.   In the process of data pushing of staging, .you can exclude these kinds of tables and as a result, they may not be overwritten on the live stores.

Best Magento Hosting

Nowadays, Magento has become an essential factor in the e-commerce business. It’s popular to let your customers have a high-quality experience of shopping. Finding the best Magento hosting is somewhat a difficult task for many merchants. Because Magento stores not available in every hosting provider. Cloudways is a good choice if you want a good Magento hosting.

Cloudways now has provided solutions for the merchants who yet stay on Magento 1 but starting to worry about the Magento 1 End of life. So it’s not a problem if you’re still not decided to move from the M1 store to the M2 store. Cloudways will support you in both ways.

Cloudways managed the Magento store by providing extra security through firewalls and their partnership with Sucuri. In addition to that, they provide monitoring of 24/7, bot protection, IP blacklisting, enhanced staging environment, SSL certificates for free, and free migration of Magento 1 into any platform of hosting.

Cloudways provides this Magento 1 EOL services to support merchants who yet run their e-commerce store on an already out of date M1 platform. If you’re still run your store in the M1 platform, you have to invest extra money to keep your store secure and up to date. Magento 2 is a best solution for all businesses in any size. It has features like developer friendliness, high flexibility, and great customization. In addition to that, it can process many orders within an hour due to its speedy response time. It may let your customer have a good impression of your store. By staying with M1, will lead to losing your competitiveness.

It’s not a good idea to stay with Magento1. Therefore cloudways support you with Magento 1 EOL and migration of Magento 2.

Cons of using Cloudways Hosting

Premium Support Costs Extra

Although Cloudway provides you with extra support for free, You have to pay extra money in order to get better service. Support or help is something that a company should provide to the customers for their satisfaction. Another thing is in order to get any level of support you must have an account of them.

Cloudways has three levels of support as Standard, Advanced, and Premium. At the Standard support level, You’ll get support for free of charge that is consists of live chat, self-service, platform support, and infrastructure support. In the level of Advance, it has provided everything in Standard level plus a ticketing system of 30 minutes to solve high priority cases and customization support that starts from $100 for a month. The Premium support level has a ticketing system of 10 minutes to solve high priority matters. It also provides access to connect Private slack channels and phone support that start from $500 for a month.

No Domain Registration

If you’re going to create a website domain registration should be done. Another bad thing about Cloudway is, there’s no any domain registration available. So it must be get done through a third-party service provider like GoDaddy. It will add more troubles in order to direct URLs to the hosting setup. Nowadays, many third party domain service providers are capable of providing hosting too. So it’ll be advantageous to choose such a domain service instead of cloudways.

Extra Cost for Email

Many hosting providers offer email services for free. But in Cloudways, email service is unavailable. You have to get that service through Rack space. You have to pay $1 for a month to them. They will charge more from somewhat larger companies with more than a hundred employees. Although Cloudway doesn’t provide any email service, in many hosting providers it is one of their basic services.

CloudWays Pricing, Hosting Plans and Quick Facts

Cloudways offers different types of payment plans without any contracts or period of commitment. Users can pay monthly or hourly as they wish. Do we recommend Cloudways?

Cloudways offers a fast page load time. Its proactive monitoring service is so good and also it’s security options are great. It comes with a firewall that provides extra protection to your site. It let you have security measures up to your login page. Cloudways simplifies their whole experience without any complexities. They are the most suitable choice for e-commerce businesses and digital agencies. It gives you more control over your pay plans. If you need a hosting provider that can handle without any technical knowledge, Cloudways may not match your choice.

Cloudways commitment towards their customers are highly appreciative, They always try to listen to their clients and expand their platform features, so that their users can get a better result in their business process.

Then you must select a hosting service like Site Ground, WP Engine, etc. If not Cloudways is the best choice. IT provides the best customer support, high speed, super performance, and other essential services for a fair price. All the hosting providers have some weaknesses. They are not totally perfect. So Cloudways also has some weaknesses. But you can’t easily find a hosting service like Cloudways at this reasonable price. So we recommended Cloudways to you as the best web hosting platform. But you should have a little bit of technical knowledge to handle this type of hosting provider.

HostRocket Review

Even though HostRocket doesn’t have the same reputation as BlueHost, DreamHost, and HostGator, it was established in 1999. The headquarters and data centers of HostRocket are in Clifton Park, New York.
Usually, when you enter a website of a web host for the first time, their homepage will show you a lot of boasts about their speed, customer support, and uptime.
But that is not the case with HostRocket, instead, they begin with: “SSD shared hosting.
Quite interesting, right?
So to review their service, we purchased a WordPress website on HostRocket’s’ shared plan and set it up in June 2015.
During past years we have been monitoring their performance statistics including uptime & speed to present you an unbiased review. Stay with us.

Advantages of HostRocket Hosting

The main plus points of HostRocket are consistent, decent customer support, and the availability of many apps which we can choose. Let’s look at them in a detailed way.

1. Impressive Support

They only offer customer support via a ticketing system and telephone. (Not via live chat or email)
In the beginning, we were not happy. Because we knew that, ticketing often takes years to respond. But we were wrong actually. They were able to send us an answer within around 11 minutes. And the reply was very helpful and informative.
Our background check also left a reasonably good experience. The problems and complaints from the customers were about other things, not about their support.

2. You can select between two server locations

If you are in a country and planning to cater to customers in another country this will be a good option. Because HostRocket allows you to choose the datacenter you prefer.
But they have only two data centers in Chicago and New York (both are in the United States). And they are only a two-hour plane ride away.
That will be a good perk in theory, but not that good in reality.

3. More than 250 app integrations

HostRocket has good integrations with more than 250 famous applications such as WordPress, Drupal, Magento, Zen Cart, Open Cart, and much more. Those will help you to get started a little earlier.

Disadvantages of HostRocket Hosting

Unfortunately, HostRocket earned more minus points than plus points. You can see a detailed account below.

1. Slow Page Loading Time

The average page loading time during the last two years was only 863ms.
But HostRocket began to show better speed results from January 2019 and in November 2019, which was 569ms showing some improvement. But now, their page loading time remains in the disadvantages section.

Average page load times during last year:

2. Uptime of 99.83%

The current standard industry uptime is 99.93%. That indicates the downtime will be around 26 minutes per month and that won’t affect your sales or customer support much.

To see how uptime affects your website, you can use this uptime calculator.

However, the HostRocket’s average uptime is 99.93%, below the industry standards. Furthermore, the overall performance of HostRocket in uptime is a mix. Some months they had it 100% and in other months showing very bad results.
They also have a solution for that in their Terms of Service page,

“If you feel that your site was not up the guaranteed 99.5% during a given month, please submit a trouble ticket stating your situation and we will review this with you, and credit your account accordingly.”

Average uptimes during last 12 months:

  • January 2020 average uptime: 98.07%
  • December 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • November 2019 average uptime: 99.57%
  • October 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • September 2019 average uptime: 99.91%
  • August 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • July 2019 average uptime: 99.45%
  • June 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • May 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • April 2019 average uptime: 99.92%
  • March 2019 average uptime: 99.97%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 99.86%

3. Relatively expensive pricing

Their least expensive plan starts from $5.99 per month. That is expensive!
The pricing will get more expensive if you have to sign up for two years and prepay.
Though they claim you get what you pay for, we don’t believe them.

4. A Setup Fee of $29.99!

The majority of the web hosting companies won’t charge you for getting your site up and running. They even offer free site migration and a free domain name for a year.
But sadly, HostRocket is still charging a setup fee of $29.99 if you are deciding to pay monthly or semi-annually.

5. The domain name registration fee is $20!

In the beginning, HostRocket offers you a free domain name.
But if you are planning to get an additional name the cost will be $20 per year. In other sites, the cost will be less than half of that.

What is our recommendation?

We don’t recommend HostRocket.
Their support, speed, and uptime are not bad, but not that good either. And the overall performance is below average when compared to its cost and additional fees.

HostMetro Review

being a new company that is established in 2012 HostMetro only provides shared hosting. And they are among the web hosts with a guaranteed price lock. So that your pricing won’t double when it is time to renew.
Moreover, they claim about having 99.9% uptime also. Which of them is actually true?
Let’s find out.
So, in order to find the truth we set up a basic WordPress test website on the HostMetro ‘Mega Max Plan’ in June 2015. From there we have been monitoring and analyzing their performance. Mainly the important details like uptime and speed to give you an unbiased review.

Advantages of HostMetro Hosting

The most attractive plus point was their ‘Price Lock Guarantee’. Let’s see what else they have.

1. Inconsistently decent Customer Support

The beginning of the HostMetro Customer Support was very good. Their agents connected quickly and answered all our questions efficiently.
However, our background checks revealed mixed reviews regarding the availability of their customer support department.

  • “We are unable to log in to our c-panel and email is not working. We have tried contacting your online support and no one is picking up. Will anyone of you explain to me what’s happening?”
  • “Your customer service is terrible! I am definitely looking for a new host. I was told you would get my site reactivated so I could fix things re the plugins. It hasn’t been done. This has happened sooo many times and I am done.”
  • “Hello guys, this is almost days now our websites are down and we are getting no help, taking 24hrs to reply for a ticket? I want help soonest, I can’t even reach you on call.”
  • “What seems to be the problem with your support? I can’t get hold of anyone over the phone and its almost two hours wait. I can’t even connect with your chat support. And your email support is very slow. We are having an issue with our emails and I want somebody to fix it for me.”

2. Price Lock Guarantee

As you already know most web hosts will offer you a surprisingly low rate when you are signing up. And doubles or even triple the price when it’s time to renew your plan.
But HostMetro guarantees your initial registration rate won’t change, even in future renewals. So that will be a great deal if you are planning to stay with HostMetro for the long term.

3. Free website transfer (+limitations)

HostMetro offers free site migration of your existing website to their servers. But your website should not exceed 3GB and you must request site transfer within 30 days of creating an account.
That way you will be able to get your money back if you are not satisfied with their service.

4. 99.9% Uptime guarantee

The uptime guarantee policy is mentioned in HostMetro’s Terms.
If their annual uptime falls below 99%, they are ready to give you a free month of hosting. Even though the cut off value is lower than the average uptime, this policy indicates their confidence in the service.
For your information, there are some exceptions also. If the downtime is due to a natural disaster or a big hack that will not be calculated into the uptime average.

5. 30 Day Money Back Guarantee

As a new HostMetro customer if you are not happy with their service, you can ask for a full refund. But that should be during the first 30 days.
But the refund amount may vary according to the following.
Refunds only apply to host plans. Therefore another add ons (backup services, domain names) are not refundable.
You can take domain names to another host if you have paid for that particular domain name.
If the domain name is given free by HostMetro, they will subtract the cost from the refund amount.
The same applies to the free SSL certificate.

So please make sure to check your plan twice for these free extras, as they may come again and haunt you someday.

Disadvantages of HostMetro Hosting

Even though they offer a price lock guarantee is a plus point, minus points are more.
Let’s look into them.

1. Slow Page Speeds

The average page loading time of HostMetro was 1116ms during the last two years. That is four times slower than the fastest host. (That is A2 Hosting)
Considering that a one-second delay may result in 7% conversions, HostMetro will cost more than the service.
Almost every month they had below averages consistently.

Average Load times during past one year:

2. 99.81% Uptime

The uptime is the same. It was below average during the past two years.
Even though they offer a free month of hosting whenever their uptimes are below 99.9%, you have to be cautious. Because an hour of downtime per month may repel your visitors, conversions, and thereby money and sales.

Average uptimes of last year:

  • January 2020 average uptime: 99.98%
  • December 2019 average uptime: 99.69%
  • November 2019 average uptime: 99.59%
  • October 2019 average uptime: 98.91%
  • September 2019 average uptime: 99.94%
  • August 2019 average uptime: 99.97%
  • July 2019 average uptime: 99.90%
  • June 2019 average uptime: 99.57%
  • May 2019 average uptime: 99.97%
  • April 2019 average uptime: 99.83%
  • March 2019 average uptime: 99.94%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 99.84%

3. Costly “Free” backups

According to HostMetro’s Terms, they offer free backup services as a courtesy.
But there are some issues like,

  • Backup only runs once a month (ideally it should be daily or weekly)
  • They on1 GB size
  • You have to pay $39.95 to restore the backup.

Unfortunately, the backup isn’t actually free!

4. Only Shared Hosting

HostMetro only has two shared hosting plans. VPS, cloud or dedicated hosting options are unavailable.
That will hinder the expansion of your existing infrastructure.

5. Restrictive FREE domain offer

When signing up, you will get a free domain name only if you use their FREE DOMAIN coupon code.
And even the domain name renewal will cost you $14.49 ( more expensive than most of the domain name registrars).

6. ‘Setup Fee’ on Monthly Plans

Though HostMetro offers a true month-to-month hosting plan, the rate rises rapidly and the setup fee will be $14.49.

7. More expensive short term plans

As same to most web hosts HostMetro advertises a monthly price of,$2’95. But to get that you have to sign up for three years. And another important thing is that the shortest plan of HostMetro is one year and it will also, cost $4.95 per month.

    Takes a long time
You can make it fast by paying a fee of $5
  • Control Panel and Dashboard experience

Do we recommend HostMetro?

No, we don’t.
Because they are many minus points like slowest page loading speeds, bad uptime, lengthy downtimes likewise. The only plus point was their price lock guarantee.

HostMonster Review

Even though there is a saying that ” Some things get better with age”, not all will be so. Today we are going to present you another web hosting review. And that is about HostMonster.
The particular web hosting company was established in 1996 and merged with EIG in 2015. Before merging it was one of the oldest web hosts in the industry.
We purchased the ‘Basic Plan’ of HostMonster in June 2015. And then created a basic WordPress website and kept monitoring the vital statistics like speed and uptime for a few months.
And now here we are, ready to present to you the results.

Advantages of HostMonster Hosting

Though they have been around the block a few times, now HostMonster is owned by one of the biggest industrial conglomerates. So, below are the main positive things they offer.

1. Above-average uptime (99.96%)

Depends on our analysis the average uptime of the Industry is around 99.93%.
Achieving an uptime above the industry average, HostMonster has provided a value of 99.96% during the last two years. Which is amazing.

Average uptimes of the last two years:

  • January 2020 average uptime: 99.99%
  • December 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • November 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • October 2019 average uptime: 99.85%
  • September 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • August 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • July 2019 average uptime: 99.93%
  • June 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • May 2019 average uptime: 99.97%
  • April 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • March 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 100%

2. Decent Customer Support (But inconsistent)

We were able to connect to their live chat support agent within about 4 minutes. And he answered our questions one by one. Took about two minutes to answer a question. Even though it wasn’t mind-blowing, reasonably good.
They offer phone, email, and live chat support. But there is a lengthy verification process which might be inconvenient for some users.
During our background check, we also got some inconsistent reviews from other customers too. So better to proceed with caution.

3. Good Security Options

You can get some different security options to select when you signed up with HostMonster. They will help you to protect your site and keep away the bad programs.
The main way WordPress sites get hacked is via the vulnerability of their hosting company. A study revealed a percentage of 41%. The most common culprits are ‘insecure themes’ and ‘vulnerable plugins’.
When considering HostMonster, they include various security features such as Hotlink Protection, SSH Access, SSL support, regular site backups, and Spam Assassin protection for a more secure site.

4. Instant provisioning and Fast setup

HostMonster will provide you instant provisioning if you are going with their dedicated or VPS hosting.
If you want to get started quickly, and you won’t need a long verification process this will definitely be good news. Your servers will be ready in just a few seconds!
Another good news is that HostMonster gives you a free domain name for a year with all new plans like most of the hosting companies.

5. Good Value (50 GB Storage, Unmetered Bandwidth, Free SSL)

Though the Basic Plan is not cheap (That is $4.95 per month) you will get a good value for the price.
The benefits will be up to 50GB storage, Unmetered bandwidth, and even a free SSL certificate.
And GoDaddy tries to upsell you another $100 per year for the same feature even. So you will realize the initial pricing of HostMonster is quite decent.

Disadvantages of HostMonster Hosting

Up until now our experience with HostMonster was good. But when considering the reviews from other people, there are some negative aspects also.

1. Average Page Load time over the last 24 months

During the past 2 years, HostMonster delivered an average page speed of 936ms. That is not the best and not the worst we have seen either.
The load time of a website is a crucial thing. The Aberdeen group have found that only a small one-second delay will hit across the board:

  • 7% reduction in conversions
  • 11% reduction in page views
  • 16% reduction in customer satisfaction

Average load times of HostMonster:

2. Misleading Pricing with Long Commitment Required

HostMonster doesn’t offer you a true ‘month-to-month’ plan, with the minimum requirement starting at 12 months. And for this option, the price is somewhat expensive.
Let’s take an example. If you like the cheaper ‘pro
‘Promotional’ rate they show on the site, you are required to pay in full upfront, for three years. That is not fair. Right?
Sadly, the same technique is also the standard practice in the hosting arena.

3. Hidden Costs and Fees

Surprisingly, in HostMonster there are some hidden costs too.
The first one is that the low promotional rate is only applicable to new plans. When your plan renews the price will rise back to the regular rate.
The next thing is their ‘free domain name’ is not free. If you are deciding to cancel your account, you will be charged a nonrefundable fee.

4. They charge for backups

If you are planning to enable backups, be ready to pay a monthly charge of $1.99. Among the hosts, we have reviewed most of them provides backups for free! That will leave second thoughts.

5. Expensive Migration Costs

Almost all the hosts we have reviewed offer free site migrations. But sadly, HostMonster uses it as a money-making opportunity. They only allow free site migration only through FTP (File Transfer Protocol). But the time is taken will be longer.
The cost for site migration will be $149.99 up to five sites and 20 email accounts.
According to our opinion, the worst thing is HostMonster doesn’t offer free site migration even for the first time.

6. High Plan Renewal Costs

The most common problem with many web hosts is you will only get the advertised prices if you are prepaying for a minimum of three years.
Regarding HostMonster, their monthly rates will double from $4.95 per month up to $10 for the same service. The price of bigger plans like Plus, Choice, and Plus Pro will rise higher.
In conclusion, if you are not planning to change the host, it’s better to prepay.

What is our recommendation?

We don’t recommend HostMonster.
That is because of the average performance, inconsistent customer support, low page loading speeds, and pricing tricks. There are better hosts who give you great value for the money.

Hosting Review Process

Up until today, we have reviewed more than 40+ web hosting companies. And also we are updating each review once a year.
Today we are going to reveal to you how we did that.

1. We bought a domain name for each web host

If we are planning to test a web domain, first we buy a domain name that is associated with the particular host.
Ex: To test the SiteGround web hosting service, we bought the domain name; hostingfacts-siteground.com

In some cases, we used domain names like hostingfacts-hg.com (HostGator.com) and hosting facts-ip.com (iPage). That is because certain brands don’t allow to use their full name in the URL.

2. We signed up with the web hosting provider

After buying the domain, we signed up with them. Often we selected their cheapest (shared plan) for the maximum length. Because we can have enough data and time to compare it with others.
The important thing is we never use free accounts. We feel it is quite unethical and even the hosting provider will manipulate us.
The following are some invoices for different web hosting companies following payments.

3. We connected web hostname servers to our domain

Following the sign-up, we added web hostname servers to our domain.
Every server can be verified by simply checking the WHOIS of each domain.

4. We set up a simple WordPress “test” site

When the domain name is connected with web host via name servers, we will be able to install a basic WordPress site.
To make the monitoring page load speed more accurate, we made the size, structure, and theme of each website identical.

5. We collected uptime and load time data for more than a year

After the setup is completed, we began to monitor them via Pingdom. It lets us check each host’s uptime and speed with one minute check intervals.
Then following one year (12+ months), we could see how the web host performed throughout the year.
You can go to our Pingdom live statistics page and verify the updates each month; http://stats.pingdom.com/zp1kq4gopbjs

6. We tested the customer support of each web host also

Amongst the web hosts, we have reviewed some offer 24/7 live chat support, some have ticketing systems, and some only offer phone support.
We think the most important thing is the response time and the accuracy of their answers. In other words how fast and how accurate you can get help when your website is down. You can see in detail reviews of customer support within each web hosting review.

7. We checked each web hosting feature and total cost

As every coin has two sides, every web host has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Including pricing, renewal cost, free domain option, SSL and CDN availability, refund options, customer support quality, load time likewise.
We have added that information to the reviews.

Beginner’s Guide to cPanel

Are you planning to sign up for a new web server? around 90% of web hosting companies run on cPanel. So you also may get a server which runs on cPanel. If you are a newbie, definitely you will be needing a guide to learn about cPanel. So, here it is!
In this tutorial, you will learn,

  • To use cPanel
  • And to configure your domain name in cPanel
  • To set up your website with cPanel
  • And much more

The Basics

What is cPanel?

Simply it is a kind of control panel. So you will be able to manage every element of your web hosting account.
Most of the web hosting companies make cPanel available to their clients. That is because it’s a simple, user-friendly dashboard and well maintained with regular updates, improvements, and security measures.

What Can I do using cPanel?

You will be able to perform a series of functions using cPanel such as,

  • Connecting domain names to your hosting
  • Setting up emails for your site
  • Installation of WordPress (or your preferred CMS)
  • Uploading files to your server
  • Back up your website
  • Assess your bandwidth and usage statistics
  • Install add on updates on your server
  • Change security settings
  • Set up different optimizations
  • Create and manage databases

And much more! The above list contains only the main features of cPanel. However, you don’t have to understand all of them to manage your website successfully. We will be teaching you everything you need to know.

How do I log in to cPanel?

If you are logging in for the first time, your hosting provider will give you the username and password. Please keep in mind that a majority of hosting companies have links to your cPanel when you have signed into your hosting account.

Just take a look at the following example. If SiteGround as your hosting provider, the cPanel access will be in your user profiles > My Accounts section.

If you are a Bluehost client, the link to cPanel will be the one named as Advanced.

And if you are unable to find a direct link in your hosting provider’s panel, there are two options. You can contact their support team and ask or else you can try guessing the correct cPanel address. Even though the second option sounds somewhat impossible, we will tell you how to do it.
First, open your browser and enter the address of your website followed by :2082 (for Http) or :2083 (for https).
Ex. http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com:2082 or https://www.YOURDOMAIN.com:2083

Then you will just have to enter your cPanel username and password. That’s it!

Where can I find further guidance?

As I mentioned previously, this tutorial will cover all the basics while giving you step-wise instructions to handle some common tasks. Those tasks include setting up websites, email accounts, and domain names. In case if you need further assistance, cPanel has its own video tutorials. And also there is a lot of documentation available on every page in cPanel, which are often listed as in the below image.

A Quick Look at cPanel interface

When you logged in successfully, you will see a screen just like this:

The above image shows the latest version of cPanel for 2020 which uses the “Paper Lantern” theme.

My cPanel is not like that! Why??

First of all. Don’t worry.
In order to change your cPanel style, go to PREFERENCES section (near the bottom) and click Change Style. There will be some choices. In our example, the choices were Basic, Dark, Light, and Retro styles.
To get an interface as we have shown you previously, select Basic and then click Apply. That’s all!

Let’s take a tour around cPanel interface

Navigation Bar

You will see the navigation bar at the top right corner of the screen. In that particular bar, you’ll see a simple search area, a link to your user preferences, a notification bell, and the logout link. To find the main options within cPanel, the search field will help you. Additionally, it is faster than trying to browse here and there to get an option manually. And also while you are typing, the search field will start presenting results.

Once you click the user preferences link you will be able to change the password, language, edit and manage contact information. Furthermore, you can reset the page settings with just one click.
In the notification area, you will see notifications about essential updates about your hosting setup or cPanel, news, critical updates, security concerns, and other relevant information.
Finally, please don’t forget to logout every time you are finished working with cPanel by clicking the logout button.

Search bar

There will be another search field just below the navigation bar. This works the same as the first one. But it filters the center part of cPanel rather than displaying the results within a dropdown. The only thing you have to do is type what you are looking for.

Sidebar

There will be a sidebar on the left side of your screen with some icons. The number of icons may vary on what your host makes available. In the below example the icons indicate Home, Statistics, Dashboard, and User Management from top to bottom. The primary page of cPanel will be the Home. From there you will be able to access almost all of the functions.
Once you click on Statistics you will be shown a variety of important numbers such as how many email accounts, file transfer protocol accounts, and domain names you have. And also you will see the amount of bandwidth and disk space you are utilizing.

The Dashboard will be a quick reference page. It will help you to find the most used links and also a classified version of your bandwidth and disk space usage, mail statistics, etc.

By clicking on User Manager, you will be able to add or remove users from your cPanel account. Similarly, you can see the email accounts you have set up already and even who has access to your FTP and web disk if you are sharing an account.

How to reorganize the Homepage

To collapse sections just click on the “-” sign in the right upper corner of each homepage section. And also you drag and drop entire sections to rearrange them. By doing that you will be able to put the commonly used sections at the top.

How to update your Preferences

Please don’t forget to visit the PREFERENCES section to update your contact information and change your password during your first log in to cPanel. Just follow the below steps.

Change your password

As I have mentioned earlier, this is the first thing you should do once logged in to the cPanel.
First, click on Password & Security. Then you will see a page just the same as the below image. Before choosing a new password you have to enter the old one.
In order to set up a new password, you can use a Password Generator or create a one by yourself. I think using the Password Generator is better because it will give you a stronger password. Just click on Generate Password and wait till the Generator creates the password. When talking about saving the password the best way would be using a password manager like LastPass. So you won’t have to memorize it. And please keep in mind not to save your password on your computer as it is easily discoverable.

How to update your contact information

Providing an email address is essential in cPanel. That is because of several reasons. They are,

  • To receive updates when needed
  • To communicate with cPanel

And another important thing is you have to set the email address to one that is not attached to any domain name that you are hosting in this particular cPanel, or else if something happens with your config and that particular domain is also compromised cPanel won’t be able to communicate with you.
You can click on Contact Information to get these settings. Please check all the boxes under Contact Preferences because they all are important updates that will notify you about any suspicious activity or a hosting issue.

How to add a new user

If you are planning to get some help to manage your website or you work with a business partner you can add that person to the hosting setup. He/she will require their own user profile in cPanel.
To create another user profile, first, go to the PREFERENCES section and then click the User Manager icon. Then you will see the following screen. In there you will see all accounts that are currently set in your cPanel. At your right-hand side of each account, there will be three icons.

  • The envelope icon
Indicates the email account setup status
If the icon is colored – an email account is setup
If the icon is grayed – no email account is setup
  • The truck icon
Indicates whether the person has an FTP acct
If the icon is colored – yes
If the icon is grayed – no
  • The disk icon
Indicates whether the user is able to use the web disk services that are part of cPanel.

With the options listed below the account name, you will be able to edit any user, change their password or delete. You can add a new user by clicking the Add User button in the right upper corner. Then you will be navigated to the following screen.

Then just fill out the full name of the user, user name, and the domain that the new user is associated with. Additionally, you can add an alternative email to reach that user. Finally, you have to create a password for the user.
There will be a section named as Services just below those sections. In there also you have to manage Email, FTP, and Web Disk.

  • Email
To enable or disable email accounts for the new user
And to set a limit for the account space
  • FTP
To enable or disable accounts which are accessing via FTP
Also to select what directory the new user will have access to
    And to limit the space
(FTP is used to upload files to your website)
  • Web Disk

Managing Domain Names

If you want to add a new domain name to your hosting account or to manage existing domains and also to set up subdomains you have to go to the DOMAINS section.

How to add a new domain name

For that click Addon Domains in the DOMAINS section. You can use addon domains to create a website and in other words, you will be able to host multiple domain names from the same control panel.
Just fill out the following in the Addon Domains section.

  1. New Domain Name
The same name that you’ve already registered, without the part.
  2. Subdomain
This will be filled out automatically once you enter the domain name
    So just leave it
  3. Document Root
This is the location where your new domain’s files will be.
It also will be filled out automatically.

Finally, click on Add Domain.

How to edit or remove a domain name

In the Addon Domains screen, there will be a section called Modify Addon Domain. From there you can manage all domains currently assigned to your account. Managing is setting redirections or even the complete removal of domains. That will be very simple. To remove and manage the redirections there will be some links on the right side. Once you click on them, it will carry you to another setting panel. At there you can confirm the deletion or enter the destination that you want to redirect the domain.

How to manage subdomains

Each and every time you add a new domain to your account, cPanel will make a corresponding subdomain to go alongside. Let’s look at the following example:

First, let’s take your cPanel account name as alex and the host is goodhost.com. So your primary server domain will be alex.goodhost.com. When you add a new addon domain-like alexsworld.com, cPanel will automatically create a subdomain named as alexsworld.alex.goodhost.com.

But the problem with that setup is the new subdomain usually has a copy of your previous website which is available under alexsworld.com. Similarly, you have the same website twice under two addresses. Those would be alexsworld.com and alexsworld.alex.goodhost.com.
Therefore to fix this you have to redirect the new subdomain to your standard domain. Once that is done anyone who is trying to go to alexsworld.alex.goodhost.com will be redirected to alexsworld.com automatically.

Just follow the steps given below to do that.
Go to the DOMAINS section and click Subdomains. Then you will see all of your existing subdomains in a panel. The Redirection column will be blank as in the below image. Now you have to click on the Manage Redirection which is situated next to the subdomain you are planning to edit.
After that, in the next screen type the full domain name that you are planning to redirect to. That will be alexsworld.com in our case. Once done, click Save.

How to create custom subdomains

Even though custom subdomains may cause very tiny inconveniences they also allow you to expand some areas of your site.
Imagine if you want to launch a new blog post as part of your website, doing that under a subdomain will be a very good approach. Let’s take an example and take alexsworld.com it as the main website. Now you may consider launching a blog named blog.alexsworld.com.
blog is just an example and you can choose whatever subdomain you prefer. Another thing is you will be able to create a custom subdomain on the same screen where you managed the existing domains. The only thing you have to do is fill the form!

  • Subdomain
    The name of the subdomain
Only use letters, dashes, and numbers
    Make it short
  • Domain
The main domain of your subdomain
  • Document Root
The directory/folder on the server where you are planning to keep the files of the new subdomain
    Ex: blog.alexsworld.com

Once done, click Create.

Email accounts and settings

If you are choosing a cPanel enabled web host you’ll get some benefits. Like to create custom email accounts for that particular domain. You can do this by entering the EMAILS section. You will be seeing a number of tools there that can be used in creating new emails, setting forwarders, autoresponders, taking care of spam likewise.

How to set up an email account

Before going into the advanced stuff, you have to add a new email account to your domain. First, click Email Accounts and then stay in the first tab. That will be Add Email Account.

Then follow me and fill out the form.

  • Email
    Enter your preferred address
    Ex: hello or yourname
  • Domain
Choose the proper domain name from the drop-down list. (If you have not added the domain name to cPanel, first do that!)
  • Password
    Create a strong, secure one
  • Mailbox Quota
    Adjust accordingly
1GB (=1024MB) would be the minimum

Then click on Create Account.

Then you can change to the Email Accounts tab. There you will see that the email you created just a while ago is added to the list. In near future you will be able to manage that account; the password, quota, and all other details.

How to use your email

Basically there are two options

  • To configure the email in an email client like Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook, etc
  • Use Webmail
Configuring your email locally

The first thing you have to do is go to the Email Accounts tab. Then next to your address there will be a link named Access Webmail. Click it. After that, you will be navigated to a new panel. There, navigate down to the section named as Mail Client Automatic Configuration Scripts. As you can see in the above image there are some links. Those links are with instructions or ready-made configuration scripts for famous clients. If you can see yours in the list, click the link next to it. Then complete the configuration accordingly.
Either you want a manual configuration or you can’t see your client just scroll down a bit. You will see another section named as Mail Client Manual Settings. Then proceed as you wish.

How to access your Webmail?

In the Email Accounts tab, click on Access Webmail which is on the right side of your address. Then click on one of the available webmail clients. Once you click you will be in your email inbox.
Similarly, you can access your Webmail directly using a browser. Just go to http://YOURDOMAIN.com/webmail and you will see the following screen. So, just enter the email address and password.

How to forward your email to another address

Imagine if you want to have your emails to arrive at YOUREMAIL@YOURDOMAIN.com to be forwarded to YOUREMAIL@gmail.com. Actually you can do that within minutes.
Click on Forwarders. Then you can create a sample email forwarder or else another forwarder for your entire domain name.
Let’s look at the former one.
First, click on Add Forwarder. Then you will see the following screen with several fields.

  • Address to Forward
Enter the user part of the email address that you want to forward.
Ex: enter alex if your email is alex@domain.com
  • Domain
The domain part of the email address that you want to forward.
Ex: enter domain.com if your email is alex@domain.com
  • Destination
    Select Forward to Email Address
Enter the full email address where you want to redirect in the field below

Then click Add Forwarder to finalize.

How to set up a default address

By setting up a default address you will be able to catch any incoming email that is sent to an invalid email address under your domain name.
In other words, you can use fake or non-existent email addresses when signing up for various online things but still can get those emails delivered to you.
Let me explain to you more using an example. Let’s take your email address as alex@alexsworld.com. And it is the only one that is set up for your domain name. You want to sign up for Netflix but don’t want to use that address. Therefore you can use something like netflix@alexsworld.com.

Now let’s look at how to set that up.
Go to the EMAIL section in cPanel and click Default Address.
Your screen will look like this. From the drop-down select your domain name. Then tick the box saying Forward to Email Address. In the below box enter your existing email address. Finally, click the Change button. And you are good to go!

How to set up spam filters

Fortunately, cPanel has an option to filter the troublesome plans.
First, click on Spam Filters and see the available options. As your web host has only enabled some options, there won’t be a lot to handle. In my case, the spam filters were on by default and I couldn’t disable them. But I still managed to adjust some settings.
First, let’s start with Automatically Delete New Spam. I think it is better to leave it because some important emails may falsely be taken as spam and you may miss them if you enable that option.
Then click on the link under Additional Configurations. You can see how the blacklist and whitelist work by manually blacklisting or whitelisting some email addresses. Once the experiment is over you can whitelist all emails from your company or any other important contacts.

How to Manage Your Files

You can go to the FILES section in the cPanel to upload files, backup your website, and manage your files using FTP.
FTP indicates File Transfer Protocol which you can use to manage the files which are associated with your website. That may be uploading, reading, or retrieving even. You have to use FTP with a client application like FileZilla.

How to use the File Manager

Initially go to the FILES section and then File Manager. Basically File Manager lets you manage all the files of your site directly via cPanel. You won’t be needing a single third party FTP tool.
Click the File Manager and you will see a screen like this. From here you can manage all the files in your server so you have to be extra cautious when making any modifications.
On the left side of the screen, you will see the root folder and some subfolders. In the middle, you will see the contents of the selected folder.
Now let’s take a look at what you can do here.

Creating a new folder

You just have to click on +Folder button as shown below. Then you will be asked to enter the name of the new folder and its location. Once done, click Create New Folder.

Uploading a file using File Manager

The first thing you have to do is click on the folder where you want to upload the file into. And then click the Upload button which is located in the top menu. Then just drag and drop the file or else you can select the file from your local drive.

Important: you can use your website software to upload files if it allows you to do so via the user interface. That will be easier than going all the way to File Manager in cPanel. Because your website software will see the files immediately.

How to access your main FTP account

You might be or might not be able to log into your main FTP account using the same cPanel login and pass. That will depend on how your web host has set up your cPanel account.
To confirm that click on FTP Accounts after going to the FILES section. Then navigate down to Special FTP Ac

Different Types of Web Hosting

Looking for a place to locate your website? Are the various forms of web hosting confused? Then you’re in the right place.Different types of web hosting It is not easy for you to find the right web host. Many considerations need to be taken into your mind. And if you’ve checked our best web hosting list, you may still have some questions on which form of website is right for you.
This post will give you an introduction to what is web hosting and what types of web hosting are available to help with that. And we will explore in-depth how web hosting is used, how it works, the pros and the tips and for whom it suits best.

Are you Ready? So let’s start.

Introduction to web hosting?

Let’s first explain what web hosting is.

It’s pretty easy. You can do so when you view a website in a browser because the browdifferent types of web hosting - Hosting explainedser has downloaded a few code files and converted it to something you can see.

These files are stored somewhere, just like on your computer, so that you can access it. Yet they were on another device (Server) rather than your hard drive.

Servers are stronger than your laptop, so that many people have simultaneous access to the website, although they consist of the same things as a CPU, storage device and other components. It also has a Linux-based operating system.

The server owner lends it to the website owner and offers some other services including server management, support, malware detection, backup, etc. Web hosting is the mechanism in which such a technology is given to others. The hosting provider is the one that does it.

Everything clears up to now? Nice, then let’s go for more stuff.

Different Types of Web Hosting

More than one thing is web-hosting. Firstly, many hosts offer several service packages that can greatly differ from price to price.
Even so, one of the first and most important decisions is to determine one hosting type.

While web hosting offers to differ in terms of differences (features, management level), the most fundamental ways of looking at the technology used on the server are to be considered.
As you’ll see below, this part also specifies a lot of other factors such as performance, security, scalability and effort levels on your side. the above makes perfect sense.
Rather than looking at companies and costs first, you should focus your attention on figuring out the web hosting of the various forms is the best way for you. You can always test what’s available after that.
In this article, four hosting styles are discussed closely: shared, VPS, Dedicated and cloud hosting, respectively. You also know how to make your own decision.
showing different types of web hosting - shared vs vps vs dedicated

1. Shared Hosting – Best for Beginners

Shared hosting can be defined as in the name. Your Website is located on the same server as a group of other websites with a shared hosting account.

How many are a group of people? That depends on your configuration and hosting provider. However, hundreds and even thousands of others don’t usually go to a room.

Advantages

The major advantage is that you share the server costs with many people as well. If the hosting supplier can place hundreds or thousands of customers on one server, it enables many parties to spread the operating costs.

This is also why shared hosting is the cheapest. The averages cost in the $5 to $10 / month range is as low as two dollars per month. Excellent for people with limited funds and just beginning.

Beyond that, you are generally cautious about the setup with a shared hosting account. It’s very little to set up so you can concentrate on developing your website fully.

This is why common accommodation is the cheapest. The average cost can be as low as 2 $/month in the $5-$10-month period. Ideal for people with limited funds and just beginning.

Apart from that, you normally have full setup with a shared hosting account. There is very little to configure so that you can concentrate on building your site completely.

Disadvantages

The only downside to this arrangement is sharing the server with other parties. As mentioned, a server is a hard drive computer, CPU speed and RAM resources.
Those are scarce tools. Just as your laptop slows down, so do those machines

VPS-vs-Shared

when you are running too many programs simultaneously.
Because all web sites of a shared host demand server resources, it is difficult to address issues if one of them is using increased traffic or faulty code to hog all computing power. This allows everyone else to compete for the rest and leads to downtimes or lower charging speeds (so that your website can’t be reached).

The “bad neighbour effect” is a trend, with one of the principal reasons for the shared hosting being one of the most troublesome web hosting styles. While numerous hosts are actively trying to prevent this, with this specific setup it is a risk. After all, is it worth spending hours supporting one customer if each customer pays $5 / month? It isn’t.

For whom?

So is hosting a good idea ever shared? Yes, yes! Yes! It may be perfect to accommodate sites with little traffic (yet), static brochures, creation and testing sites, personal websites or other websites where utility is not a major trouble.

If you have a very tight budget, shared Hosting is also an excellent choice. It enables companies to create a web presence, even if they are unable to do so. This shared hosting is a crucial tool for web equality.

Bluehost, Siteground and InMotion Hosting form among the most well-known hosts in the segment.

2. VPS Hosting – Next-level Shared Hosting

VPS stands for the Private Virtual Server. It is the most secure web hosting of all kinds. A VPS server is still a common environment, but its configuration is quite different.

Although all VPS sites use a single physical host, there are several different virtual machines. This makes it a bit like an intermediate distance between shared hosting and your dedicated server.

Advantages

VPS is much more dependable and stable than hosting shared. First of all, 10-20 sites per server are usually limited. This reduces the demand on the server.

The real innovation, however, is that all resources are distributed equally and no website can surpass their reach. Once you have reached the limit, your site will go down, however, other sites will be stable.

It is accomplished by virtual machines that create a server separation. This simple addition reduces the bad next-door effect in the majority.

VPS servers also provide greater versatility and allow you to change your environment. It is not feasible on shared hosts, as it will change the configuration of everyone else. You can make adjustments without impacting others because your account is stored within a virtual machine.

Finally, VPS can be scaled. As you run a virtual machine which consumes a certain percentage of available resources on the server, it’s no problem to increase what’s there. This gives business owners great comfort, who expect their sites to expand and flourish.

Disadvantages

For this type of hosting, there are not too many downsides. Of course, the worst thing is that it costs more than the approaches in the lower tier. So, you will find a solution that works cash for yourself if you have a tight budget.

However, while VPS costs around 50 $per month on average (and can reach up to 200), $it can cost around 20 $per month to get VPS. Plus, once you hit the highest levels of this type of web hosting, your money is likely to be enough to cover the costs easily.

Furthermore, with additional configuration capacity, more responsibility often comes with VPS hosting. You can delete important files or apps without understanding what you are doing if you don’t know what you’re doing. You, therefore, need to be educated to take advantage of it.

For whom is it?
We suggest updating to VPS as soon as possible if you have the money. Also, the lowest level is typically much better than any shared hosting solution, even though it is costlier.

Can you do the transfer at the latest when you get good traffic? But be sure to test what you get (setup costs, CPU, power, storage space, bandwidth) so that you know what you need.

InMotion Hosting and Dreamhost provide well-known and trusted VPS solutions.

3. Dedicated Hosting – For the Big Leagues

As the name indicates, hosting just means this: you have a server for yourself. This has many advantages, but also a lot of downsides.

Advantages

First and foremost, one of the main benefits of dedicated hosting is that there are no bad neighbour problems, simply because there are no problems. No other website can steal your money, endanger the safety or cause other problems. This differentiates it from the various types of Web hosting we discussed earlier.

Furthermore, when you get a machine alone, many companies will make it extensively personalized. You can choose the OS, the quantity and storage type and other hardware objects. This provides a great deal of flexibility.

Disadvantages

Naturally, this type of setup is costly. It’s not easy to hire a dedicated computer. Prices begin at 60 dollars per month and go up to 350 dollars/month. You will, however, possibly be able to cover the costs if your company needs a dedicated server.

Besides, you need to learn a lot about computers and server technologies. Although dedicated hosting solutions are handled, you still have to do it yourself.

At the extreme, you can get a fully unmanaged service where you need to install the OS yourself, let’s say all the resources needed to run a Web server, search protection, malware, etc. You can employ an admin server as well. That brings additional costs to it, though.

You have placed all your eggs in a basket with a dedicated server. Your website is gone if the hardware fails. Many modules may be solved in the event of failure or automatically substituted in other arrangements. This could take longer with dedicated servers, particularly if you follow them yourself.

For whom is this supposed to be?

Is anybody ever looking for specific hosting? This is controversial. The need to have your server is through in today’s world with VPS cloud catching on. Certainly, it may take a lot more hits than a conventional VPS, but there is nothing similar to a cloud-based framework in terms of scalability.

Also, a high-end VPS can be much cheaper than a dedicated low-end Server and also much stronger. Do not be taught that this is a more advanced option because you are the only person on your server. Look more at the money you’ve got, that’s what counts.

Therefore, this is the least likely one of the different web-hosting types discussed here. The only thing we would say two times that you should use a dedicated server is if you have highly-specific hardware needs, or you want a much greater privacy control than anywhere else.

LiquidWeb, GreenGeek and PickaWeb are among the top dedicated hosts.

Dedicated hosting

4. Cloud Hosting – The Future of Web Hosting

Cloud hosting is the same as VPS hosting as you do have a virtual computer on your website.

Your platform, however, is part of a whole network of computers from which it can draw all the power that it needs dynamically instead of one physical server.

This form of configuration is becoming more popular. Some businesses no longer even use Cloud VPS or Cloud VPS to call their services.

Advantages

Scalability is one of the big benefits of cloud computing. You can use a typical VPS, but only to some degree. The capability of the hardware on which it is based is limited. Your site can never access 64Go on a server with 32 GB of RAM if necessary.

This doesn’t apply to a cloud system. The framework combines multiple computers into a strong VS, which then provides resources as required, instead of partitioning one computer into several virtual machines. So much as the website demands, it’s as it can be.

Therefore, you are only paid for the services you use. It can be better than paying a fixed price for a dedicated server you can not use the full functionality of.

For security reasons, this type of set-up is also good, especially DDoS attacks. The server has an excess of parallel requests in these forms of attacks so that they crash. In the cloud network, these requests can be spread across several different computers and have a much better effect than on any single server system.

Disadvantages

Cloud computing has the biggest drawback that costs can’t always be completely expected. A mix of fixed pricing and fees is available to many cloud hosting providers. This can significantly increase your costs when you experience traffic spikes. Although this usually also means that you can earn better and therefore bear the costs, it is something that should be remembered.

Cloud hosting

For whom are we?

Cloud systems are great if you want to be much larger than traditional systems on your website. For addition, shared and dedicated solutions will possibly be substituted as technology progresses.

That being said, whether you’re looking for VPS or cloud hosting doesn’t make a big difference at this point. Many companies simply replace their normal system with cloud-based VPS because of its advantages. Therefore you may use cloud storage without knowing even if you are using simple VPS.

Dreamhost, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Linode are well-known hosts that provide cloud hosting.

Which of the Different Types of Web Hosting is for You?

It can be very difficult to select a hosting plan and it takes many accounts of it. The first step, however, is to understand the various hosting styles. Ideally, the context of this article is given to you.

When you’re just starting up (for example, when you create your first blog/site), it’s great for sharing hostings. You can always transfer to a more powerful configuration later. You should only look at other options from the go if you already know that your site has needs that can not be shared hosting.

It makes sense to look at a group of companies once you have agreed. Our top-class hosts are recommended for the best. Consider what is available and compare RAM, disk space, usage of CDN, bandwidth and other quantifiable resources. Then check out any further features you need.

You will have 2-3 preferences at the end of the cycle, at which point it will become personally preferred. Maybe a short conversation with support will go a long way to gage helpfulness.
