DigitalOcean Review

Hello Everyone! I came to you today with another web hosting review. That is about DigitalOcean.
DigitalOcean has first launched its server in 2011. It is an American cloud hosting company that is aiming on helping developers to launch more apps faster and easier. Even though they started as a small start-up company in New York City, now they have grown into a big company with a customer base of around half a million developers.DigitalOcean was able to come to the top 10 in our hosting service rankings. Furthermore, their goal is to use a stable state drive or SSD in order to create a user-friendly platform. That will allow its clients to transfer projects to and from the cloud efficiently.
So, we started monitoring DigitalOcean in 2018 and until now we keep monitoring the test site we are created in DigitalOcean. We specifically monitored the vital metrics of the system, including load times, customer service responsiveness, uptime, and downtime. Gladly up until today, the results are good.

Advantages of using DigitalOcean Hosting

1. Great Uptime (Average is 99.99%)

As you already know by now, the average uptime of the industry is around 99.94% for a cloud hosting service. DigitalOcean was able to even exceed the industry average delivering an average uptime of 99.99%.
In other words, DigitalOcean had only eight outages from April 2018 to March 2019. And the total downtime was only 43 minutes.

Average uptimes during the past 12 months:

  • March 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 100%
  • January 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • December 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • November 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • October 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • September 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • August 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • July 2018 average uptime: 99.94%
  • June 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • May 2018 average uptime: 100%
  • April 2018 average uptime: 100%

In the above values, you will see a small dip in the summer including the lowest recorded uptime in July. That is 99.94%. But after that, there were no outages in September, October, November, or December. That is very impressive, right? DigitalOcean has an improvement in the exact direction. And they keep moving up!

2. Super Fast Loading Times

Some of you might know by now, that is the first thing you have to consider when selecting a web host is their uptime. Then the next thing would be the speed.
Sluggish, lagging websites will half cost your traffic. Unfortunately, a difference of a few seconds can cost you three-quarters of your potential website traffic.
According to Market Research, if a website won’t load within five seconds, around 74% of its traffic will be lost.
Now let’s take a look at what are the potentials of DigitalOcean. They are excellent actually. DigitalOcean is the fastest product we have reviewed. While the Industry average fluctuates around 890ms, DigitalOcean gives you a speed of 218ms. And the slowest speed was 496ms. Amazing, right? Even the lowest is 50% faster than the industry average.

Average page loading times during the past year:

According to the above values, you will realize how fast DigitalOcean is. And the overall average speed is 357ms.
During the last few months, they had some of the fastest values while being a competitor. By now, A2 Hosting has the fastest speed.

3. Developer Friendly Product Ecosystem

DigitalOcean’s suite of products will offer a lot of potential for developers. The following is an account of those options.

Basically, Droplets is a computing platform. You can customize it according to the application needs of your business. Moreover, it includes add-on storage, monitoring, and advanced security. There are two options; standard droplets and optimized droplets. You can choose either of them to customize as you wish. Another thing is that droplets let devs skip time-consuming installation and configuration to move right along toward code deployment.

Spaces is about simple object storage and a security system that lets you store and deliver data to applications and end-users. Gladly, spaces operate via a simple process while creating reliable storage with a drag and drop UI or API. You can use Spaces to store backup files, weblogs, data analysis, and much more. Another good news is that the service is also adjustable and can be combined with other features of DigitalOcean or on its own.

This is an upcoming product that is being launched in late 2018. We haven’t heard much about the product. But DigitalOcean has shown in their official website that Kubernetes is, “Designed for developers and businesses who want a simple way to deploy and manage container workloads in the cloud.”

4. Customizable Pricing

Actually this is an advantage in a way and a disadvantage in another way. We think it is good that you can customize everything that you pay for like site storage, CPU usage, bandwidth, database, memory, etc.
And this feature will be more beneficial for an advanced user who is already familiar with his needs and goals.

5. Daily Backups

DigitalOcean runs daily backups and you will be able to restore any data up to 7 days before.

6. Good Security

According to our experience, most hosts won’t focus much on the security of your data and traffic. But DigitalOcean always does. They provided end to end security to your data. So that will be a good advantage to chase away the troubling connections and viruses from your system.
Additionally, DigitalOcean has added encryption to its volumes by default. If you are planning to add another layer of security you just have to go through a tutorial and follow the steps accordingly.

Disadvantages of using DigitalOcean Hosting

1. A Jargon for Advanced Users

According to our opinion, a product should be able to summarize its service in lay terms. So any person will be able to get an idea about the services they provide.
When considering DigitalOcean they have used a lot of technical data which only be understood by an expert in the field, not by an average person. Not good for the beginners though. Their official website is filled with technical terms and acronyms without explanations. Just marketing their product only advanced developers. So, others won’t be able to figure out how to move a site over, launch, maintain, or even grow their website.
But hosts like HostGator have done an excellent job by using a simplified language which is understandable by each and every person. So it is definitely a user-friendly product for both beginners and advanced users. But not DigitalOcean.

2. Lacks Very Basic Features

Almost all the hosts we have reviewed will offer some extras like backups, a good CDN, and even an SSL certificate. But DigitalOcean won’t do that.
They don’t offer,

  • Free domain name with hosting
  • The ability to purchase a domain name
  • Free site migrations.

So you should not be expecting a lot of hand-holding services when you are signing up with them.

3. Limited Customer Support

The majority of the hosts offer some variation of 24/7 customer support. Even though it is not matched with the demands, somewhat adequate.
But DigitalOcean has nothing. If your website had a problem at midnight, you won’t find a support agent. You have to go to DigitalOcean’s website and open a support ticket using the following online form.
And the contact form doesn’t even work! We typed a question regarding the Kubernetes product and got an error message. So, we had to email them directly. We got a reply a day later. And they don’t even provide a virtual assistant. They only have a chatbot.

4. Complicated cPanel

If you are a beginner or someone who is not comfortable with programming languages you will need a cPanel to build your website.
So to do that in DigitalOcean, first, you have to set up a Droplet of your choice (DigitalOcean servers). Then install cPanel using some code commands! After that register, your account, install the execution file likewise.
Even worse, you must purchase the right from a third party to use the cPanel. The monthly payment will be $20 or $15.
If you are a beginner or a person without any experience with coding we recommend you hire a good developer.

5. Expensive Pricing

DigitalOcean is a highly functional product with an expensive price tag.
Look at the image and the prices of Droplets:

Standard Droplets start at $5 per month but the memory is only 1GB. Afterward, the Prices will rise higher to $80 per month.
And the CPU optimized Droplets starts from |$20 and ends at $920 per month!
Next, have a look at the storage prices.
Spaces start with 250 GB storage and $5/month. And the same droplet, when coupled with the first tier of standard droplets will be $10/month.
Furthermore, though they have a lot of additional services, each and everyone will cost you. Those are some steep prices actually.
But there is something you have to keep in mind. You will get unmatched speed and performance with DigitalOcean even though the price is a bit high.

6. Pricing is Complicated

When you are trying to understand the pricing plans, you will be confused with all the options and possibilities which you can use and upgrade. There are various categories of bandwidth, space, server speeds, CPU, security options likewise.
In simple terms, DigitalOcean has a lot of ways to increase your monthly fee. It is better to be able to customize everything, unlike the other hosts. But it will be complicated and time-consuming if you are not an advanced user. And the prices will be steeper than other hosts.

Do We Recommend DigitalOcean?

Yes. We do….  only if you are a developer.
If you are a beginner who is planning to launch a website, we will recommend you to go for another user-friendly product with lesser costs.
And if you are a tech-smart, DigitalOcean will be a highly recommended option.

FatCow Hosting Review

Even though FatCow has a funny name, it is one of the oldest hosting companies in the industry. FatCow was first established in 1998 and acquired in 2004 by the popular EIG. (Who owns HostGator, Bluehost and many other hosting companies) As we did before, we purchased The FatCow Plan shared hosting plan in June 2015 to find out the real facts about the FatCow. And then we set up a WordPress website and kept monitoring their statistics including uptime and speed.
So, now we are here to present to you our honest review. Keep reading!

Advantages of using FatCow Hosting

Gladly FatCow performed very well in the important and necessary categories. You can see a summary of them below.

1. Good but Inconsistent Support

The overall experience with FatCow’s customer support was good. Their support staff was able to connect with us within about 4 minutes. And they provided instant responses.
But our background check reveals the opposite. The other customers had an inconsistent experience that doesn’t match with ours. Apart from living chat support, FatCow offers a large user knowledgebase. You will be able to find answers to common questions by using that. You can see answers to the questions regarding the account, domains, email, files, partnership programs, policies, security, etc.
Additionally, you can search for a keyword or phrase that is compatible with your question bypassing the filtering through preset categories. In a nutshell, FatCow’s customer service is amazing. The live chat will be suitable for users who prefer self-help and the knowledge base can be considered as a backup method when the live chat is offline.

2. Trusted Pricing

The pricing structure of FatCow is very impressive and transparent. As you already aware many web hosts use confusing pricing structures to attract you. But then disappoint you.
They will use many tricks. A common one is doubling or tripling the price when its time to renew.
Surprisingly, the advertised low price in FatCow is real. No tricks, no games. Just signup with them and you will be benefited.

3. Free Website Transfers and Domain Names

FatCow offers free site migration at the beginning. So they will help you to transfer your existing site to their servers.
Furthermore, they will offer a free domain name for new account sign-ups.

4. 30 Day Money Back Guarantee

Similar to most of the web hosts FatCow also offers a standard 30-day money-back guarantee if you are not happy with their service. But there is something you have to keep in mind. That is the orders made via a credit card will only be eligible for the refund. Not the orders made through PayPal.

5. Eco-Friendly Hosting

All offices and data centers of FatCow are powered by wind energy. Even though that is not eco friendly as GreenGeeks, a quite good right?
FatCow appears to be an EPA Green Power Partner. That shows their claims are reasonable.
Moreover, the company purchases Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Those certificates are used to generate wind energy to fulfill regular energy usage in the office. Actually they buy them twice the amount that they use.
Another thing is that FatCow claims to prevent the release of around 999 metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year. Similarly, according to the EPA, this is equal to,

  • Stopping 214 passenger vehicles from going in the road
  • Driving 2,448,529 miles
  • Recycled waste of about 28 tons
  • And recycled 49.8 garbage trucks.

So, FatCow will be a good choice if you are looking for a green host who is socially conscious.

6. Free Web Icons

What about some web icons to decorate your website? You are at the right place. FatCow will offer you 3,926 professionally designed “farm fresh web icons”. And they are totally free! But there is a condition in their Terms of Use. That is if you include these web icons in your site you have to make sure to link the below URL in your credits.

Even though the icons are free, FatCow expects to credit them for creating the icons.

Disadvantages of using FatCow Hosting

In the following paragraphs you will see the negative aspects of FatCow. We think this will help you to weigh the pros and cons and thereby to get a decision.

1. Poor Uptime (Only 99.86%!)

As far as we know most of the EIG brands have failed to deliver a consistently good uptime.
When considering FatCow, they were only able to deliver an uptime of 99.93% which is way below the industry average. Actually that is very bad.
Another thing is that they are started to show mixed results recently.

Average Uptimes during last year:

  • January 2020 average uptime: 99.95%
  • December 2019 average uptime: 99.87%
  • November 2019 average uptime: 99.90%
  • October 2019 average uptime: 99.95%
  • September 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • August 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • July 2019 average uptime: 99.89%
  • June 2019 average uptime: 99.98%
  • May 2019 average uptime: 99.93%
  • April 2019 average uptime: 99.92%
  • March 2019 average uptime: 99.96%
  • February 2019 average uptime: 99.93%

2. Very slow page loading

FatCow has failed in this section also. As the name implies they have moved as a slow animal.
They showed a page loading time of 1,166 ms. That is slowest among the 31 hosts we have reviewed up to now. To make the problem worse, they had below-average loading times when we first signed up them about three years ago.
As the page loading times are an essential thing for site rankings and conversions a slow page loading time will do no good to a commercial website. And some studies have proved that half of your traffic will leave you if pages don’t load within two seconds.

Average load times during last year:

2. Cancellations will cost you

As we have mentioned previously, FatCow offers a free 30-day money-back guarantee. No issues with that.
But if you want to cancel after the 30 day period, there will be a minimum $35 early cancellation fee. Additionally, they require a 30-day notice to cancel.

3. Backups are not free

Often minor site issues are likely to come up when you are working on making website updates or changes. That is the reason why many hosts offer backups.
FatCow also offers backups. But for a price of $16.95 per year. But there is a silver lining in that cloud. That is this upgrade includes daily backups.

4. Too many upsells

Unfortunately, FatCow has a lot of bothersome upsells that will kick off immediately after you enter your credit card number. So its better to stay alert!

5. Extra Security – Extra Charges

To ensure your website doesn’t get blacklisted, FatCow has some impressive security features. Example of such features is SiteLock which can protect your website from cyber attacks, malware, and much more. But you have to pay for it. If you are planning to get full protection, including daily malware and vulnerability scans, automatic malware removal, a web application firewall, etc, the cost will be around $24.99/month.
However, you have to keep in mind that other hosting companies offer the same features for free!

There are some betting hosts to consider.

  • No SSH access

HostGate is well known for useful features when considering as a web hosting company. They provide a well managed dedicating hosting solution with aggressive prices but after the initial period you should ready to pay more.

But HostGator has data centers only in the US.Since this is well organized web hosting provider we can expect high performance. But in past two months it was not happened.Because the average speed was only ∼1090ms. This value is much less than the others in the list when comparing speed values. The uptime was 99.86%. In the last two months they experienced two hours of downtime also.

                                                      Tested Hosting Plan:HostGator VPS / Statistic dates:01.03.2020-30.0.2020

HostGator supports to both Linux and Windows. These configurations can match your need correctly. You are free to access for both.cPanel and WHM comes with Linux.Plesk and WebMatrix comes with Windows.

It’s lowest price plan is 8GB of RAM and a 2.1GHz processor with 4 CPU Cores. You will get 1TB of HDD disk space. The only option is SSD disk but a with higher plan. You will have an unmetered bandwidth.Additionally 3 dedicated IP addresses with every plan.

Root access ,DDoS protection, RAID 1 storage, and IP based firewall are the main features. You are allowed to access unlimited databases. Also HostGator provides a well managed dedicating hosting solution. They are on the attention of your servers 24/7.Also provide Automated updates from the beginning.

HostGator support with 24/7 over the phone and also live chatting. But the customer service is not considerably good.

From the beginning  they are very helpful to answer our questions but when time goes they performed lack to answer other questions.

Totally they are not spectacular for customer service. But if you are connected to them continuously they will not let you miss from their connection. However this kind of service you are not expected when you are in search of best hosting service.

This hosting plan starts with the amount of $89.98 per month with with a three year commitment. This is rather bad with considering the value. However you have to pay a regular rate of $189 per month as the renewal period.

They allow you to pay monthly but it is quite expensive. The amount is $159.99 per month. But they do not provide any guarantee about refunding the money. So as a safety method you can just try one month trial. Then get to know very well and then you can decide you will be a longer customer or not.

  • Free cPanel
  • Data centers in the US ,EU and Asia
  • RAID 1 storage
  • Average load time (∼720ms)
  • Free SSL
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • Lowest disk space (500GB HDD)

Somehow they can do better service by enlarging their coverage. They cover all over the world including US,EU and Asia.So that their uptime becomes much perfect. It has 99.99%. And they got only one downtime during the last two months. In that time period they performed well and had a average speed of ∼720ms.

                                                      Tested Hosting Plan:Bluehost VPS / Statistics dates:01.03.2020-30.04.2020

Bluehost only offer the service for Linux configuration. But as a help they add a free cPanel subscription.

Bluehost cheapest plan is not powerful but it contains 4GB RAM and 2.3GHz processor with 4 CPU cores. As well as you are allowed to get 500GB of Hard disk space. So with that storage they do not provide SSD disk since the above storage is not high. The bandwidth is 5TB.This is useful for small and medium size businesses.Additionally you can have 3 IP addresses along with the cheapest plan.

The main facilities that you can gain are root and SSH access and RAID 1 mirrored storage.By the help of free cPanel you will get a chance to have a free SSL certificate to reduce your cost. But they do not include the industry standards of DDoS protection.

This also support 24/7 service and also the chatting service. But after the first attempt, same day we tried to connect with them using live chatting. But we could not connect to them.So it may be failure of live chat software during our review. Then you may try to connect with direct call.

However the next day the service was superb,They contacted us properly and the representative helped very politely. The responses were very fast. Also they were very straight to the matter. That day they managed to keep a very good customer service.

As a result the live chatting failure the customer service become little bit worse. But except from that they managed it very well.

Their cheapest price plan begins with the amount of $79.99 per month. It has a three year commitment.Their low price trials included less facilities. But have higher power compared to others in the list. But you have to pay double as you wish to start from the monthly trial which is $149.99 cost per month.

5.  Dreamhost – Full-Managed Dedicated Hosting

  • In-house developed control panel

  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Local MySQL Database server
  • RAID 1 storage
  • 24/7 monitoring
  • Below average loading time (∼1120ms)
  • Data centers in the US only
  • Weak customer service

Even though this is quite older web hosting company this service is not out of date.Their service is well managed and dedicated hosting built-in control panel. Also have decent servers. It’s web server monitors your dedicated servers to make you comfortable when you use it.

When you want to make reduce the challenges when using servers Dreamhost is the best.Because it has very least amount of conflicts.

Unfortunately Data centers are only found in US.As well they did not perform well in the previous two months. The average speed only was ∼1120ms.This value is much differ from the others in the list. The uptime was 99.87%. The analysis shows they had a two hour downtime during the past two months.

                                                     Tested Hosting Plan:DreamHost VPS / Statistic dates:01.03.2020-30.04.2020

This server also support only for Linux configuration. But you will be able to have the access for their easy to use built in panel which designed for Linux specifically.

Their cheapest plan is 4GB of RAM with 4 CPU cores. But it is not very much interesting. However in the beginning you are lucky to have a 1TB of HDD disk space with unlimited bandwidth. Also you will get one dedicated IP with above lowest plan.

This server offers many features.Root and SSH access,DDoS protection,RAID 1 storage, and 24/7 full monitoring are some of the facilities. If you use databases, then automatically you will get local MySQL database server in every plan.

DreamHost support their customers 24/7 always. But their live chatting is only between 5.30 A.M to 9.30 P.M pacific time for every 7 days in the week.

Except the live chat, you are supposed to go ahead the chat with creating a ticket or find solutions  with a robot.

Here we said that 24/7 support means really the ticket option, not the 24/7 customer service.

Unfortunately we have to claim that average customer service become more less compared to others in the list.

The plan is starting from $149 per month with one year commitment. But monthly starts from $169 per month. If you wish not to be long term partner so make sure there is not a great difference in between both trials. They have an in house developed panel. Therefore no any extra costs for control panels.

The basic plan comes with 4GB of RAM.If you want to make higher as 8GB of RAM start the plan with $189 per month. This is also valid for one year commitment. But this is more expensive compared with the basic plan. However the performance are strong with fully managed dedicated server.

Here every plan has 100% service level agreement with uptime guarantee.

  • Data centers in the US,EU,and Asia
  • RAID 1 storage
  • CloudFlare CDN
  • 24/7 monitoring
  • Free site migration
  • Anytime money-back guarantee
  • Weaker servers

Then you should better find another hosting plan.

A2 hosting data centers are similar to bluehost coverage. Those are US,EU,and Asia.Uptime is also perfect and that is 99.99%. They had only four minutes of downtime during the last two months. But in that time period the performance was not good. The load time was ∼1220ms.This is the worst value in our list.

Tested Hosting Plan:A2 Hosting VPS / Statistics dates:01.03.2020-30.04.2020

A2 Hosting provides only Linux configuration. This is very helpful when you work with unmanaged plans and you have to choose your operating system to work on it.Unfortunately, there are no any control panel combined with unmanaged plan when compared to managed plan.

A2 Hosting plan offer a very good 8GB RAM but it has only 3.1GHz processor with 2 CPU cores. You will get 1TB of HDD disk space and also two dedicated IP addresses. But the bandwidth limited to 10TB for data transfers. This comes under the lowest price plan.

A2 Hosting conducts 24/7 customer service but only with their managed dedicated hosting plans. This is cleared by the statement that they expect to customer to have web development and managing expertise with them.

Their customer supporting is much better since they took only few minutes to reply.Nevertheless  their contribution is very good because they know what they talk. Also they took more time to explain their service while answering the initial questions.

  • Cheap
  • Good load time  (∼520ms)
  • Easily customizable
  • 24/7 monitoring
  • cPanel costs extra
  • Data centers in the US only
  • No default RAID 1 storage
  • Customer support could be better

InterServer provides their service to the dedicated servers for a wide range with low prices. The service is quite good and performs are better as they charge low prices for their service.

The data centers are only in the US.The load time average also performed well as ∼520ms.The uptime also good with 99.99% and is just 12 minutes outages.

                                                    Tested hosting plan:InterServer VPS / Statistics dates:01.03.2020-30.04.2020

InterServer supports for both Linux and Windows. But you must be ready to pay extra later. You can choose proper matching operating system for your server from many options. But control panel charges extra. If you need one then you can select from cPanel,WHM,Plesk, and DirectAdmin.

The cheapest plan offers at 8GB of RAM and a 3.2GHz processor with 4 CPU cores. There is an option to choose the storage in between 2TB of HDD or 250GB of SDD.The latter is quite fast but has a low volume. You can gain 5 IP addresses. But you will limit for a 10Tb of bandwidth. This is much enough for small to medium businesses.

The main facilities are standard root and SSH access,DDoS protection, and 24/7 server uptime monitoring. But there is no RAID 1 storage. If it includes it costs extra.

InterServer’s technical support is a 24/7 for their dedicated servers. They only support to you re installs and hardware issues only if you are buying a plan without a control panel. They support more if you have a control panel to repair any service that does not work properly.

They took few minutes to reply us and they responded straightforwardly. However their support representative helped us responding earlier with some questions that we have to ask again.

So They took more time time to answer all of our questions, besides that they could be better.

The cheapest plan does not include a control panel. But it costs $80 per month. As an example they charges extra $34 per month for cPanel access. However if you are best at command line interface. Then your money has a value for spending hosting options.

  • Data centers in the US,EU,and Asia

US, EU, and all over Asia they widely service. So it helps to cover more and more. They had a vey good uptime. It is 99.98%. Past two months they could record downtime as just 17 minutes  only.Since few months loading time also ∼530ms only.So the overall performance can take as quite good.

                                                     Tested Hosting Plan:GoDaddy VPS / Statistic dates:01.03.2020-30.04.2020

Here this service opens for both Linux and Windows. So that is clear why they charges more. However, they do not include control panel along with their plans. But you are free to add subscription of cPanel and Plesk.

4GB RAM and a 3.1 GHz processor with 4 CPU cores, is the cheapest plan. You can have 1TB of HDD disk space.Unmetered bandwidth also. You should read the fine print first and do not try to violate their Hosting Agreement. You will get both 1 dedicated IP address and a self-managed plan.It will upgrade for 3 when you quit a managed plan.

The main features that you gain are standard root access (this offers only with the self managed plan) , DDoS protection, and RAID 1 storage as default. They conduct 24/7 uptime monitoring. Also provide free 1-year SSL certificate with every plan.

They have a well-managed 24/7 customer support. It is always over the phone. It can be extended with their managed dedicated plans. But they expect a web developer from you do by themselves. This is only for when you try to self-managed dedicated server.

Though they replied quickly for our questions,we had to try several times.Because they did not answer properly for the right question. We could see they tried to template answers. But eventually they did not succeeded. They failed when answering for non-conventional and follow-up questions.

They had a warm and friendly welcome always but failed in technical terms.

The cheapest plan is starting from $79.99 per month. This has a two year dedication also. But after the initial period this price will renew. That cost is $174.99 per month. However, you may prefer for monthly payment so then you can pay $159.99 for your plan.

There is another option to add a cPanel subscription with your dedicated server. This has a very low cost and it is $15 per month. when you move from self managed plan to the managed plan you will meet up more benefactions. Those are additional monitoring, updates and backups. So at the time you feel not comfortable about the process of server management, then we suggest add that option.

The data centers are in US, Dallas, and Seattle. The past two months had the uptime as 99.99%.Also one minute of downtime. But their performance not showed well. The average load time also recorded as ∼1120ms.This value is lower than the industry standard.

This service also provides you both Linux and Windows configuration. So you may choose what suits best for you. The plan is not having a control panel. But you can subscribe to any of the packages.Like cPanel,Plesk, or CWP through hostwinds. However, you have to pay extra charge for all of these.

The lowest cost plan containing 8GB of RAM and a 3.5GHz processor with 4 CPU cores. You will obtain 1TB of HDD disk space. Also you will meet up 8 dedicated IP addresses. But for data transferring, you can only have 10TB of bandwidth.

Main features are not much enough as default service. But you can get separately by spending some money.Root access  service is possible to you.But the default RAID storage is not included. So you may choose additional disk for another extra money. DDoS protection and 24/7 monitoring offered. But you have to pay extra $50 and $2 per month respectively. The other option is cloud backups. This charges $1 per month.

Linux or Windows ? (Copy past Detected)

Here is a supportive guide in deciding what to select between ”Linux” and ”Windows”. Although these two server platforms seems same, they both differ from the way they serve the users.

Normally the major fact the users expect from a server platform is to fit  with the value. Here the user expects the server platform to be affordable, user friendly, efficient and stable. For an example ”Windows” costs more than ”Linux”. But above facts are not sufficient to make decisions, as the technological conditions are also important in these cases.

In a situation like this, it is important to make self comparisons between the options and come in to a conclusion.

Here are some specific features of both platforms separately that would help you to come to conclusions easily.

Linux is a scripting supportive platform. It runs the scripts written in Unix originated languages as Python, Perl and PHP and the databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.

Windows is supportive for Microsoft SQL server and Access database. This runs ASP scripts and utilizes Microsoft technologies like .NET.

Different Types of Web Hosting

Looking for a place to locate your website? Are the various forms of web hosting confused? Then you’re in the right place.Different types of web hosting It is not easy for you to find the right web host. Many considerations need to be taken into your mind. And if you’ve checked our best web hosting list, you may still have some questions on which form of website is right for you.
This post will give you an introduction to what is web hosting and what types of web hosting are available to help with that. And we will explore in-depth how web hosting is used, how it works, the pros and the tips and for whom it suits best.

Are you Ready? So let’s start.

Introduction to web hosting?

Let’s first explain what web hosting is.

It’s pretty easy. You can do so when you view a website in a browser because the browdifferent types of web hosting - Hosting explainedser has downloaded a few code files and converted it to something you can see.

These files are stored somewhere, just like on your computer, so that you can access it. Yet they were on another device (Server) rather than your hard drive.

Servers are stronger than your laptop, so that many people have simultaneous access to the website, although they consist of the same things as a CPU, storage device and other components. It also has a Linux-based operating system.

The server owner lends it to the website owner and offers some other services including server management, support, malware detection, backup, etc. Web hosting is the mechanism in which such a technology is given to others. The hosting provider is the one that does it.

Everything clears up to now? Nice, then let’s go for more stuff.

Different Types of Web Hosting

More than one thing is web-hosting. Firstly, many hosts offer several service packages that can greatly differ from price to price.
Even so, one of the first and most important decisions is to determine one hosting type.

While web hosting offers to differ in terms of differences (features, management level), the most fundamental ways of looking at the technology used on the server are to be considered.
As you’ll see below, this part also specifies a lot of other factors such as performance, security, scalability and effort levels on your side. the above makes perfect sense.
Rather than looking at companies and costs first, you should focus your attention on figuring out the web hosting of the various forms is the best way for you. You can always test what’s available after that.
In this article, four hosting styles are discussed closely: shared, VPS, Dedicated and cloud hosting, respectively. You also know how to make your own decision.
showing different types of web hosting - shared vs vps vs dedicated

1. Shared Hosting – Best for Beginners

Shared hosting can be defined as in the name. Your Website is located on the same server as a group of other websites with a shared hosting account.

How many are a group of people? That depends on your configuration and hosting provider. However, hundreds and even thousands of others don’t usually go to a room.

The major advantage is that you share the server costs with many people as well. If the hosting supplier can place hundreds or thousands of customers on one server, it enables many parties to spread the operating costs.

This is also why shared hosting is the cheapest. The averages cost in the $5 to $10 / month range is as low as two dollars per month. Excellent for people with limited funds and just beginning.

Beyond that, you are generally cautious about the setup with a shared hosting account. It’s very little to set up so you can concentrate on developing your website fully.

This is why common accommodation is the cheapest. The average cost can be as low as 2 $/month in the $5-$10-month period. Ideal for people with limited funds and just beginning.

Apart from that, you normally have full setup with a shared hosting account. There is very little to configure so that you can concentrate on building your site completely.

The only downside to this arrangement is sharing the server with other parties. As mentioned, a server is a hard drive computer, CPU speed and RAM resources.
Those are scarce tools. Just as your laptop slows down, so do those machines

when you are running too many programs simultaneously.
Because all web sites of a shared host demand server resources, it is difficult to address issues if one of them is using increased traffic or faulty code to hog all computing power. This allows everyone else to compete for the rest and leads to downtimes or lower charging speeds (so that your website can’t be reached).

The “bad neighbour effect” is a trend, with one of the principal reasons for the shared hosting being one of the most troublesome web hosting styles. While numerous hosts are actively trying to prevent this, with this specific setup it is a risk. After all, is it worth spending hours supporting one customer if each customer pays $5 / month? It isn’t.

For whom?

So is hosting a good idea ever shared? Yes, yes! Yes! It may be perfect to accommodate sites with little traffic (yet), static brochures, creation and testing sites, personal websites or other websites where utility is not a major trouble.

If you have a very tight budget, shared Hosting is also an excellent choice. It enables companies to create a web presence, even if they are unable to do so. This shared hosting is a crucial tool for web equality.

Bluehost, Siteground and InMotion Hosting form among the most well-known hosts in the segment.

2. VPS Hosting – Next-level Shared Hosting

VPS stands for the Private Virtual Server. It is the most secure web hosting of all kinds. A VPS server is still a common environment, but its configuration is quite different.

Although all VPS sites use a single physical host, there are several different virtual machines. This makes it a bit like an intermediate distance between shared hosting and your dedicated server.

VPS is much more dependable and stable than hosting shared. First of all, 10-20 sites per server are usually limited. This reduces the demand on the server.

The real innovation, however, is that all resources are distributed equally and no website can surpass their reach. Once you have reached the limit, your site will go down, however, other sites will be stable.

It is accomplished by virtual machines that create a server separation. This simple addition reduces the bad next-door effect in the majority.

VPS servers also provide greater versatility and allow you to change your environment. It is not feasible on shared hosts, as it will change the configuration of everyone else. You can make adjustments without impacting others because your account is stored within a virtual machine.

Finally, VPS can be scaled. As you run a virtual machine which consumes a certain percentage of available resources on the server, it’s no problem to increase what’s there. This gives business owners great comfort, who expect their sites to expand and flourish.

For this type of hosting, there are not too many downsides. Of course, the worst thing is that it costs more than the approaches in the lower tier. So, you will find a solution that works cash for yourself if you have a tight budget.

However, while VPS costs around 50 $per month on average (and can reach up to 200), $it can cost around 20 $per month to get VPS. Plus, once you hit the highest levels of this type of web hosting, your money is likely to be enough to cover the costs easily.

Furthermore, with additional configuration capacity, more responsibility often comes with VPS hosting. You can delete important files or apps without understanding what you are doing if you don’t know what you’re doing. You, therefore, need to be educated to take advantage of it.

For whom is it?
We suggest updating to VPS as soon as possible if you have the money. Also, the lowest level is typically much better than any shared hosting solution, even though it is costlier.

Can you do the transfer at the latest when you get good traffic? But be sure to test what you get (setup costs, CPU, power, storage space, bandwidth) so that you know what you need.

InMotion Hosting and Dreamhost provide well-known and trusted VPS solutions.

3. Dedicated Hosting – For the Big Leagues

As the name indicates, hosting just means this: you have a server for yourself. This has many advantages, but also a lot of downsides.

First and foremost, one of the main benefits of dedicated hosting is that there are no bad neighbour problems, simply because there are no problems. No other website can steal your money, endanger the safety or cause other problems. This differentiates it from the various types of Web hosting we discussed earlier.

Furthermore, when you get a machine alone, many companies will make it extensively personalized. You can choose the OS, the quantity and storage type and other hardware objects. This provides a great deal of flexibility.

Naturally, this type of setup is costly. It’s not easy to hire a dedicated computer. Prices begin at 60 dollars per month and go up to 350 dollars/month. You will, however, possibly be able to cover the costs if your company needs a dedicated server.

Besides, you need to learn a lot about computers and server technologies. Although dedicated hosting solutions are handled, you still have to do it yourself.

At the extreme, you can get a fully unmanaged service where you need to install the OS yourself, let’s say all the resources needed to run a Web server, search protection, malware, etc. You can employ an admin server as well. That brings additional costs to it, though.

You have placed all your eggs in a basket with a dedicated server. Your website is gone if the hardware fails. Many modules may be solved in the event of failure or automatically substituted in other arrangements. This could take longer with dedicated servers, particularly if you follow them yourself.

For whom is this supposed to be?

Is anybody ever looking for specific hosting? This is controversial. The need to have your server is through in today’s world with VPS cloud catching on. Certainly, it may take a lot more hits than a conventional VPS, but there is nothing similar to a cloud-based framework in terms of scalability.

Also, a high-end VPS can be much cheaper than a dedicated low-end Server and also much stronger. Do not be taught that this is a more advanced option because you are the only person on your server. Look more at the money you’ve got, that’s what counts.

Therefore, this is the least likely one of the different web-hosting types discussed here. The only thing we would say two times that you should use a dedicated server is if you have highly-specific hardware needs, or you want a much greater privacy control than anywhere else.

LiquidWeb, GreenGeek and PickaWeb are among the top dedicated hosts.

4. Cloud Hosting – The Future of Web Hosting

Cloud hosting is the same as VPS hosting as you do have a virtual computer on your website.

Your platform, however, is part of a whole network of computers from which it can draw all the power that it needs dynamically instead of one physical server.

This form of configuration is becoming more popular. Some businesses no longer even use Cloud VPS or Cloud VPS to call their services.

Scalability is one of the big benefits of cloud computing. You can use a typical VPS, but only to some degree. The capability of the hardware on which it is based is limited. Your site can never access 64Go on a server with 32 GB of RAM if necessary.

This doesn’t apply to a cloud system. The framework combines multiple computers into a strong VS, which then provides resources as required, instead of partitioning one computer into several virtual machines. So much as the website demands, it’s as it can be.

Therefore, you are only paid for the services you use. It can be better than paying a fixed price for a dedicated server you can not use the full functionality of.

For security reasons, this type of set-up is also good, especially DDoS attacks. The server has an excess of parallel requests in these forms of attacks so that they crash. In the cloud network, these requests can be spread across several different computers and have a much better effect than on any single server system.

Cloud computing has the biggest drawback that costs can’t always be completely expected. A mix of fixed pricing and fees is available to many cloud hosting providers. This can significantly increase your costs when you experience traffic spikes. Although this usually also means that you can earn better and therefore bear the costs, it is something that should be remembered.

Cloud hosting

For whom are we?

Cloud systems are great if you want to be much larger than traditional systems on your website. For addition, shared and dedicated solutions will possibly be substituted as technology progresses.

That being said, whether you’re looking for VPS or cloud hosting doesn’t make a big difference at this point. Many companies simply replace their normal system with cloud-based VPS because of its advantages. Therefore you may use cloud storage without knowing even if you are using simple VPS.

Dreamhost, Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services and Linode are well-known hosts that provide cloud hosting.

Which of the Different Types of Web Hosting is for You?

It can be very difficult to select a hosting plan and it takes many accounts of it. The first step, however, is to understand the various hosting styles. Ideally, the context of this article is given to you.

When you’re just starting up (for example, when you create your first blog/site), it’s great for sharing hostings. You can always transfer to a more powerful configuration later. You should only look at other options from the go if you already know that your site has needs that can not be shared hosting.

It makes sense to look at a group of companies once you have agreed. Our top-class hosts are recommended for the best. Consider what is available and compare RAM, disk space, usage of CDN, bandwidth and other quantifiable resources. Then check out any further features you need.

You will have 2-3 preferences at the end of the cycle, at which point it will become personally preferred. Maybe a short conversation with support will go a long way to gage helpfulness.
